How the estimate is calculated
Categorising transactions
Every month behind multiplies the transaction volume. We allow about 0.6 minutes per transaction where bank feeds are connected and 1.5 minutes where transactions must be entered or imported manually.
Reconciling accounts
Each bank, card, processor or loan account has to be reconciled for every month, at roughly 0.6 hours per account-month, plus time to chase missing statements.
Fixing known problems
Each issue you tick adds a fixed investigation block plus time that grows with the months behind. A review-and-close allowance of 10% is added, and the range runs from 80% to 135% of the midpoint.

It depends mainly on how many months are behind, how many transactions you have each month, how many accounts need reconciling and what problems are in the file. How long does it take to catch up on bookkeeping?
A few months of light catch-up often takes one to two weeks. A year or more with reconciliation problems, payroll or sales tax issues can take four to eight weeks, mostly because missing statements and documents have to be gathered first.
What does a QuickBooks cleanup include?
Categorising every transaction, removing duplicates, clearing Undeposited Funds and Uncategorized balances, reconciling each bank, credit card, processor and loan account month by month, correcting A/R and A/P, and recording adjusting entries so the balance sheet ties out.
Can I clean up QuickBooks myself?
